About

Welcome to My Outdoors Life! This blog has been created with a single goal in mind: that of talking about outdoor adventures of any kind.

Launched in 2016 by childhood friends, hiking buddies and outdoor enthusiasts Daniel Carraway and Mark Foster, this blog grew rapidly to over 700 articles, all dedicated to the outdoors.

From gear recommendation to tips to make your adventures safer, but also more exciting, we have a lot of things to share as we both have over 3 decades of experience out there in the wild, no matter if we’re talking about camping for a night or going on a solo adventure into the forest for a week.

Here at My Outdoors Life we continue to bring you the best advice you’ll ever need.

Daniel Carraway

Daniel and his (tired) son, enjoying the outdoors in 2016

A real gear freak when it comes to hiking, climbing and camping. He went to REI Outdoor School to meet new people and learn best practices and is always looking to learn new things and find the latest gadget released.

Don’t even try to argue with him about the latest backpack or ice axe, he tried most of them and has some really strong opinion! Daniel’s dream is to climb Mount Everest and he began training for this in 2019. Plans for this are on hold currently, from obvious reasons.

He also loves the beauty of a sunset seen from the mountaintop and the delicious flavor of a meal prepped over the camping fire, shared with his beautiful wife and son.

Ready to start a new adventure at any given time, Daniel knows how to be prepared for any situation and understands how important it is to find the right gear. And he’s going to share all that with you in his articles.

Mark Foster

He became an Eagle Scout, which is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting division, when he was 17 and he’s been living the scout life ever since.

Mark always plans neatly every trip, takes leadership very seriously and if you listen to his tips and stories, you can learn tons of useful things.

He loves to push his limits when it comes to survival in the wilderness. He might go for a 30-days adventure without any food or equipment except for a survival kit and a knife and still make it! (It should be mentioned that his survival kit has 122 items in it, so he know what he is doing!)

Mark is working on his book about his wilderness survival adventures and he’ll make sure to let readers of this blog know about it first.

Wrapping up

We are sure that you will not only enjoy your time reading this blog, but also learn many new and especially useful things here. Even though current times make it a bit more difficult for us all to enjoy the outdoors and explore nature – we should never give up!
