Best Women’s Snow Boots
Now, let’s get a bitt more in depth and find out more about each of the recommended models above and why they got the awards they did. This will make it even easier for you to choose the best pair for you.
Sorel Women’s Tivoli
Specific Features: 100% Suede, waterproof, fleece lining, rubber sole, 100g insulation.
Best overall snow boots for women
Our top recommended pair of snow boots for all ladies out there. Perfect for all day wearing too – very comfortable and warm.
And although warm and waterproof, these boots are still warm and can be used in heavier snow without a problem.
The suede is a breathable material, doubled up with 100 grams of Thinsulate insulation. This means that they keep your feet warm and comfy, without making them sweat excessively.
The molded EVA footbed supports your arches, and when combined with the microfleece topcover, keep your feet stable in the boot with minimal rubbing at the heel.
The heel is wrapped leather and there is some traction on these boots, but not enough to easily walk on ice. Still, the rubber sole is really good and gives you increased stability.
They also get bonus points for looking so welly. And since they are comfortable, they are great for all-day use too. All in all, a great pair that you will be very happy with. There are also different models and color choices in case you don’t particularly like our choice.
Keen Women’s Elsa WP Winter Boots
Specific Features: Leather and textile upper material, mesh lining, 100g Keen Warm insulation, non-marking rubber outsole, removable metatomical PU footbed, Sherpa collar, lace closure, Cleansport NXT.
Best snow boots for everyday wearing
The Elsa waterproof Snow Boots are super warm, combining lightweight 100g Keen Warm insulation with a heat reflecting strobel to give your feet a thermal barrier that locks out the cold.
The mesh lining and the Sherpa collar also add to the heat that stays trapped in your shoe, while still giving your feet the breathability needed to stay dry on the inside.
If you do happen to sweat a bit, the Cleansport NXT helps to keep any odors at bay, so you don’t have to worry about removing your boots in a crowd at the end of a busy day.
The PU leather and textile outer material is waterproof, as are the sealed seams.
Vulcanized rubber on the outsoles give you excellent traction on snow, but may not grip well on ice, so use caution on slippery walking surfaces.
They are also non-marking, which makes trying them on and testing them out on your kitchen floor perfectly safe.
The metatomical footbed design offers the best arch support possible, cradling your foot throughout the day. It can also be removed for fast drying overnight.
Though the lining extends from your calf to your ankle, there have been some complaints about cold toes, so you may want to wear thicker socks to combat this issue, which could require purchasing a larger size.
Overall, these are the best choice for everyday wearing, when you don’t expect temperatures to be extreme for long periods of time.
Tecnica Unisex Moon Nylon Fashion Boot
Specific Features: Cordura nylon upper material, foam lining, rubber sole, dual drawstring closures
Great for heavy snow
This is the original Moon Boot from Tecnica, available in a wide variety of colors to meet every style, and made for both men and women.
They are lightweight but sturdy enough to handle hours of hiking trails or dancing at an outdoor winter festival. In other words, they are perfect for snow – you can easily tell from the design!
The Cordura nylon outer material is water-resistant, keeping your feet dry all day. It also locks in the heat, so your feet will be warm even in temperatures that drop to -35 degrees Celsius.
The foam lining customizes its shape to your foot, though some have said that this lining can actually loosen up a bit, reducing the stability over time.
This may make it difficult to join in any rigorous winter games or activities, but for hiking or walking to work, this should not be an issue.
Of course, this extra room will accommodate thicker socks if necessary. Rubber soles give you the traction needed on snow, but they are not as great on icy surfaces, so tread carefully on these areas until you reach more stable ground.
There are two drawstring closures on these boots, the first to tighten the laces over the foot, and the other on top to secure the opening tightly around your calf, keeping the snow out.
The Moon Boots are listed in EU sizes, so check out a sizing chart when purchasing so you receive the right pair. They are also available in multiple colors and models, so check them out below to see if you find one that you consider right for you.

Built from a combination of leather and synthetic material, these are waterproof and seamsealed. This means that no water will get in, no matter what.
They don’t seem to be as warm as others, so ordering a number up for using extra socks might be a good idea if you know the temperatures drop a lot during the winter. These are, after all, budget boots and you can’t really expect them to be flawless.

What to look for in a great pair of snow boots
It’s best to start your search for snow boots before the first snow, so that you are already prepared when bad weather hits. But to shop smart, you need to be aware of specific features to look for in your new boots, to keep your feet warm, dry, and comfortable all season long.
Below, I’m going to outline the main things to look for when shopping for a new pair of snow boots for the winter.
1. Boot Construction
The first priority is making sure your boots are made of quality materials to ensure they won’t tear or break during use.
The best material for the upper areas of the boots are leather or suede, nylon, or textile, all of which are durable and strong. The midsole and insole should be padded for comfort and shock absorption.
A molded footbed gives you proper arch support. EVA foam is commonly used for this area, because it is lightweight and comfortable.
The outsole should be made of rubber, with thicker lugs on the bottom for traction on slippery surfaces. They should also be flexible to keep you moving freely.
2. Waterproof (or at least water resistant)
Some type of moisture protection is necessary to keep your feet dry. Water resistance is fine for cold, dry days, but won’t be very good in rainy weather or walking through slushy or deep snow.
Waterproofing will help keep you dry on wetter days, though don’t expect them to stay dry if you decide to submerge them in deep puddles.
Water resistant upper material combined with a waterproof membrane inside the boot and sealed seams gives you the best protection against moisture and is a great combo to aim for.
3. Temperature ratings
Some companies provide temperature ratings for their boots. This rating gives you the lowest temperature in which to wear these boots while still having warm and comfortable feet.
This is not a guarantee, though, as the rating could change with your own personal medical history, the type of socks you wear, or how much you perspire. But they are great for at least having some idea of what to expect.
For those boots that come without ratings, look at the type of insulation inside. Fleece or fur-lined boots are the warmest, and the thicker the better for colder temperatures.
The longer you wear snow boots, the heavier they are going to feel, so make sure you have a lightweight pair if you plan on doing a lot of walking or hiking in them.
The thicker the material inside the boots, the heavier they will be, but many synthetic materials in snow boots are made to help keep your boot lightweight.
Consider what you will be using the boots for when deciding which to buy. And if they feel heavy as soon as you put them on, imagine how they will feel after a few hours of carrying them around!
Snow boots can top out at your knees or end above the ankle, and which to buy depends on what type of snow you’re going to be in.
Obviously, the deeper the snow, the higher the boot should be, to keep the snow from dropping into them from the top.
Higher boots also keep your calves warmer and can be generally considered the safer choice. Some also have strings or can be tied one way or another to prevent snow from getting in from the top. Or you should wear your pants over them.
But if in warmer temperatures with minimal snow, a shorter boot would be a great option.
Just because you are buying for warmth, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your style! Snow boots come in a wide variety of colors and styles to choose from, making them perfect for work, play, and even a night out.
Now that you know what to look for in a great pair of snow boots, it’s time to start shopping. The models recommended above tick all the right boxes, so you should choose the ones that you consider the best looking and better suited to your style.
With so many different types and styles of snow boots available, it can be hard to know what to look for to meet your specific needs for warmth and comfort.
That’s why it is so important to research the best features of this type of footwear, so you can make an informed choice and still stay fashionable. Hopefully our list above simplified your task to the maximum.

Oh my goodness, those Moon Boots made me happy. I have always thought of water resistance and temperature control as the same thing, in regards to boots. Meaning I would look at, or for, one piece of information or the other, but never both. After reading this of course, I now realize how very, very wrong I was. Looks like I am going to have to do some research on my current pairs of boots. Thanks for the information!
Glad you found the article useful and thanks for appreciating it. I’m so pleased that you were able to use the information in very practical terms. And I like your choice of snow boots, by the way. Those Moon Boots are tops!
Ever since I saw this I have been wanting to try these boots out-I just love how crazy they look. The Tecnica Moon boots are so cute and awesome. And they aren’t only super cool looking, in my opinion, but they actually help keep my feet warm. I hate having cold feet. So I really like this. They’re also comfortable. I know they look kind of weird but they are definitely worth it.
A lot of women I know love these moon boots. They are certainly good-looking and is quite similar to the ones worn by astronauts on the moon, lol!
I know that these boots come in a variety of colors. I saw the white ones and they are really cool. Do you wear thick socks with these, Josephine? The interior of the boots are spacious and easily accommodates thicker socks, that’s for sure.
With these feature, the more your feet will stay warm and toasty.
My wife loves the way the Tecnica looks. I’m not sure they’re something I would wear or that I could even pull off, honestly. She says she likes them because they keep her feet warm and she always gets comments when she wears them out. People really notice how they look! They are definitely different for sure.
Hello there Tyler! I’m not sure we’ll ever be fashion experts lol. Women have natural fashion sense and if they love wearing it, then it’s chic, haha. My girlfriend loves these moon boots – and so does my other women buddies.
I think fashion-wise, they’re very attractive, especially the white ones, don’t you think? They’re very affordable, too, so that’s more reason to get them. Besides, they’re really comfortable shoes and has a great traction. This is one shoe where form and function combine superbly! 🙂
