Yet, it seems to make a show of being effective so some people, such as those who might have things like heart burn or acid reflex. I already make a habit of putting things like lemon in my water, so I suppose I will keep doing it. If you consider things like diffusers where various fruits and vegetables are put in part of a water source, are there other combinations of these kinds of foods that would also makes something along the lines of alkaline water?

  2. Lemon or lime is still the best and the most inexpensive. People add cucumber to lemon water for added benefit. There are water filter system nowadays that has that added feature. So if you’re planning to upgrade or get a water filter, pick one that can also turn the water into alkaline while removing bacteria and other pathogens in the water.

  5. Apparently, water is better when it is alkaline – that’s the bottom part. With our water system today, most minerals are stripped, leaving the water lacking in useful nutrients for the body. When you make your water alkaline ( using the lemon method), it gives you 4 alkaline minerals: Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium, and Potassium. 🙂

  6. It’s not any kind of salt John – it should be Himalayan salt (further study shows Celtic and Real Salt are similar) which is found to have many health benefits for the body. The salt has trace minerals which the body can use, so add that to the 4 alkaline minerals provided by the lemon (Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium, Potassium) – you’ve got quite a healthy drink!

  8. Hello Carl! In the right amount, sodium bicarbonate or baking soda is well tolerated by the body. It is an alkaline substance and alters the ph level if mixed with an acid. It is used to soothe an upset stomach. In the right amount and if you’re not on a sodium restricted diet, baking soda is ok.
