There are quite a few things that you would need to take into account when looking for the best 6 person tent. However, it’s important to note that this is one of the most comprehensive and convenient pieces of equipment that you want to own as an enthusiastic outdoor lover.

6-man tents are going to provide you with a lot of comfort, warmth, protection and, of course, fun for the entire family. With a lot of room in them, you can conveniently spend the night outside at your favorite camping location.

Features to Look For

There are certain things that you will certainly want to take into account when purchasing the best 6 man tent. Tents are more than just a piece of fabric stretched across some poles.

6 Person tent features

A lot of design and technology y has gone into making these as comfortable and durable as possible. So with this in mind, let’s take a quick look at the things that you want to pay attention to.

  • Setup: you want to make sure that the tent you purchase is easy to set up and that you can handle it without a lot of effort. It is highly advisable that you practice setting it up in the backyard in order to be perfectly sure that everything is handled accordingly.
  • Size: even though you are going to buy a 6-man tent, keep in mind that not all of them are the same size. Some may have extra space for added gear, while others have higher peak points to allow for people to move around more easily. Look at the square footage, tent heights, and added storage areas to determine whether everyone and their gear can fit.
  • Overnight camping or long-term: This is something that’s also important. Long-term camping for more than a week, for instance, could benefit from a heating tent, for instance, while an overnight stay may not require you to have that many conveniences.
  • Season: Even though most of the tents are multi-seasonal, it’s important to determine the time of year when you are most likely to camp out because this could help you in the choice.
Winter camping will require something that’s more heavy duty and designed to deal with snow on the roof and the cold ground.
  • Ventilation: It’s really important to choose a well ventilated tent in order to have a comfortable indoor space. This is particularly true and important for 6-man tents because the number of people is larger and thus the need for fresh air is accelerated. A lack of ventilation will lead to condensation on the inside, and result in not only your clothing and gear getting damp, but it will also feel a lot colder than it should.
  • Resistance to wind: Of course, that’s something that you should consider. Resistance to wind means that your tent won’t change shape and form in high winds and it’s going to provide you with perfect protection.
  • Fly: the rain fly is particularly convenient – it’s going to keep your tent dry and will help with the regulation of the ventilation.
  • Season: all tents are designed to protect you from the elements, but not all tents are capable of handling everything that Mother Nature has to throw at you. A majority of tents are made to be 3-season tents, meaning that they can be used in the spring, summer and fall.

Of course, there are other things that you would want to take into account but these are, without a doubt, the quintessential specifications that need to be sorted out beforehand. However, the truth is that there are thousands of different types of tents and it’s easy to get lost in the abundance of choices.

Coleman instant cabin iz AMAZING! You just unfold it, extend the legs, and walk in. It has lots of ventilation. The two sides have a large window, the back has a huge window. You can get plenty of air flow. When you open the windows, it’s like having the whole top half of your tent as ventilation. 🙂

You’ve hit the mark – this tent is well-ventilated and that’s very important when you have a lot of people inside, right? You’ll know you won’t melt in the sweltering heat in case you’re camping during summer. Even when it rains, air flow is adequate! So, indeed the Coleman delivers. 🙂

Love the Slumberjack tent! There’s 5 of us – 3 of which are little(ish) ones – so we found there to be more than enough space with room to spare. It’s incredibly easy to put up: myself and my youngest daughter managed to do it in less than 10 minutes with no help from hubby! Even managed to fit a queen size air mattress in there. We’ve not yet managed to persuade the kids that sleeping on the floor, without a mattress, is part of the ‘real’ camping experience! One day maybe…

Hi and thanks for stopping by to share your experience with the Slumberjack tent. You got that right – it’s so spacious and I know the kids area happy with their space! It’s slightly smaller than a Big Agnes but it’s very affordable, making this tent a crowd favorite. It also provides adequate ventilation so you’ll be able to sleep and rest in comfort. The material is also sturdy and excellent.
